Originally, Throne and Liberty was envisioned with a strong PvP focus, promising thrilling battles and competitive arenas. However, the landscape has shifted, and now we find ourselves confined to peaceful zones devoid of PvP action. Duels, proper arenas, battlegrounds, and PvP-specific locations have all vanished.


As it stands, PvP opportunities are limited to specific events, a few times a day, in designated locations. For players seeking the adrenaline rush of PvP combat, this represents a significant departure from the game's initial promise.


One can't help but wonder why such a drastic shift occurred. The PvE players seemingly had ample content to explore without the need to curb PvP. Raid bosses and various locations could have been designed with a proper PvP penalty system, allowing PvE enthusiasts to enjoy their adventures undisturbed.


The removal of PvP altogether feels like a missed opportunity. Implementing a robust PK penalty system could have struck a balance between PvP and PvE, ensuring that both player types coexist harmoniously. Instead, PvP has been reduced to occasional encounters during scheduled events, leaving little room for spontaneous battles or testing skills with willing opponents.


What happened to the freedom of action that is integral to MMORPGs, especially those marketing themselves as PvP-oriented games? Can we hope for the return of PvP in Throne and Liberty, and is there any way for players to influence this decision?


Thoughts on PvE:


The PvE landscape, on the other hand, was initially tailored for auto-battle. Venturing through dungeons, one could practically navigate without glancing at the screen, relying on the auto-assist function and skill rotations. PvE in the open world followed a similar pattern, where auto-battle became the norm. A simple press of keys allowed players to engage in repetitive but efficient gameplay.


Now, with the removal of auto-combat, PvE has shifted to a more hands-on approach. Yet, the grind remains, and the absence of engaging content raises concerns. The tedious nature of PvE, which was once suited for auto-battle, has not transformed into a more captivating experience. While the removal of auto-combat is appreciated by some, the lack of compensatory content or activities exacerbates the situation.


In this void, PvP activities could have injected excitement and variety into the gameplay. However, with PvP now scarce, the PvE grind becomes more apparent, potentially dampening the overall player experience.


As we navigate these changes, one must ponder: What other forms of content could breathe life into the game and offer an engaging alternative?
